PDRN treatment in Gurgaon
PDRN treatment in Gurgaon uses purified DNA fragments, usually from salmon, injected into the skin to support repair, hydration and collagen. It is a regenerative skin booster rather than a filler. Dermatologist Dr. Tanya Kochhar first checks whether PDRN suits your concern, or whether a hyaluronic acid booster, PRP or a collagen procedure would do the job better.
What is PDRN treatment and does it work?
PDRN treatment is a course of fine injections of polydeoxyribonucleotide, purified DNA fragments usually taken from salmon, placed in the skin to calm inflammation and support repair and collagen. The best evidence is for skin quality, healing and acne scars. Most plans use 3 to 4 sessions, 2 to 4 weeks apart, with results building over 3 to 6 months.
PDRN treatment, in short
Typical figures from published protocols. Your own plan depends on what you want to improve, the area and how your skin responds.
What PDRN is, and how it differs from polynucleotides
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide. It is made from DNA extracted from salmon reproductive cells, purified so that the proteins which could trigger an immune reaction are removed, and cut into fragments. Products sold as polynucleotides, or PN, come from the same source but keep longer DNA chains. A 2026 narrative review by Dr. Gulhima Arora in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery describes the dividing line as a molecular weight of about 1,500 kDa: shorter chains are PDRN, longer chains are PN. Longer chains form a gel that sits in the skin longer and gives a little more structural support, while PDRN is thinner and spreads more easily.
Both work in two ways. They bind to the adenosine A2A receptor on skin cells, which damps down inflammation and encourages fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen. They also supply building blocks that stressed or injured cells can reuse to repair themselves, through what is called the salvage pathway. That is why PDRN was first used in wound and ulcer healing before it moved into aesthetic dermatology.
In practice this makes PDRN a regenerative treatment. It does not add volume like a filler or bind water the way a hyaluronic acid booster does. It aims to make the skin itself heal and behave better, which is also why results come slowly.
The name on the box varies, and so does quality. Ask which product is being injected, its concentration, whether it is PDRN or PN, and its registration status. Be wary of any clinic that describes a PDRN injection as 'USFDA-approved' without naming the product and the approval.
What PDRN treatment helps, and how strong the evidence is
PDRN is promoted for almost everything. The published evidence is uneven, so it helps to know which uses rest on clinical studies and which rest mainly on laboratory work. The ratings below follow the 2026 Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery review.
| Concern | Evidence so far | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Skin quality: dullness, fine lines, dryness, crepey texture | Several clinical studies show better elasticity, hydration and texture | A reasonable choice, especially if your skin is thin, tired or slow to heal |
| Acne scars | Moderate: a prospective controlled study in moderate to severe scars | Useful alongside subcision, microneedling or MNRF, rarely enough alone |
| Healing after laser or microneedling | Limited, but consistent with faster surface healing | Often added to a session to shorten redness and recovery |
| Pattern hair loss | Several clinical studies report better hair count and thickness | An add-on to proven medical treatment, not a replacement for it |
| Melasma and pigmentation | Mostly laboratory work and case reports | Do not choose PDRN for pigment; sunscreen and prescription creams come first |
| Under-eye crepiness | Little published evidence so far | May improve fine crepey skin; does not fix hollows, bags or dark pigment |
The same review notes a 2024 systematic review of about 750 participants found the evidence 'fraught with inconsistencies', and that there is no long-term evaluation yet. PDRN is promising and generally well tolerated, but it is not as well studied as hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxin or retinoids.
PDRN vs hyaluronic acid skin booster vs PRP: which should I choose?
These three are often sold as interchangeable. They work differently, and the right one depends on what your skin needs most.
| PDRN or PN | HA skin booster and PRP | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | Repair, calm inflammation and support collagen | HA booster: deep hydration and glow. PRP: growth factors from your own blood |
| Source | Purified salmon DNA | HA: lab-made sugar gel. PRP: your own blood, spun in a centrifuge |
| Best suited to | Thin, sensitive, sun-damaged or slow-healing skin; acne scar and post-laser recovery | HA: dry, dehydrated, crepey skin. PRP: texture, early lines, hair thinning |
| Feel straight after | Small bumps for a day or so | HA: small bumps. PRP: redness, plus a blood draw |
| When results show | Gradually, over 4 to 8 weeks and beyond | HA: hydration within a couple of weeks. PRP: gradually over weeks |
| Avoid if | Fish allergy history, pregnancy, autoimmune disease, active infection | HA: active infection. PRP: blood disorders, low platelets, some blood thinners |
Many plans combine them, for example PDRN with microneedling for scars, or an HA booster for hydration with PDRN for repair. Skin boosters and the PRP facial each have their own page, linked below.
Who PDRN suits, and who should skip it
A short checklist before you book. If you tick anything in the last two cards, PDRN is either postponed or not the right first step.
Good candidates
Adults with dull, dehydrated or thin skin, early fine lines, sensitive or easily irritated skin, or skin that is slow to recover after peels, laser or microneedling.
Useful as an add-on
People having a course for acne scars or pattern hair loss, where PDRN supports the main treatment rather than replacing it.
Better served elsewhere
Deep folds, hollow cheeks or temples need volume from filler. Melasma needs sun protection and creams. Prominent under-eye bags need a surgical opinion.
Postpone or avoid
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection, acne flare or cold sores in the area, autoimmune disease, under 18, and any history of reaction to fish or fish-derived products.
How a PDRN course works
Nothing is injected on the first visit unless the plan is clear and the skin is ready.
Consultation
Dr. Tanya examines your skin, asks about allergies, autoimmune conditions, pregnancy, medicines and past procedures, and tells you plainly whether PDRN, another booster or a different treatment fits your goal. You get a plan and a written quote.
Preparation
Active acne, infection or cold sores are treated first. Blood thinners are discussed with the doctor who prescribed them, never stopped on your own.
The session
After cleansing and numbing cream, PDRN is placed in the skin as tiny injections, with a cannula, or through microneedling channels, depending on the area and the goal.
Review and maintain
Each session is reviewed before the next. After the first course, results are judged at about three months and maintenance, if wanted, is spaced according to how your skin holds up.
What PDRN is combined with
PDRN tends to work best as part of a plan. These are the treatments it is most often paired with, each explained on its own page.
Hyaluronic acid skin boosters
Where the main need is hydration and glow, a hyaluronic acid booster does that faster, and PDRN can be alternated with it for repair.

PDRN can be applied into the fine channels made during microneedling, a gentler route than injections for texture and shallow scars.

The small bumps in the first day can make the skin look briefly plumper, but that is fluid from the injections, not the result. According to the 2026 review, changes are usually apparent after 4 to 8 weeks and continue to improve over 3 to 6 months, which means most people judge the effect after the second or third session rather than the first.
Realistic results are skin that looks more even, feels smoother and better hydrated, with fine crepey lines softened and better recovery after other procedures. PDRN does not lift sagging skin, fill deep lines or remove pigment. A worked example: someone with dull, slightly crepey skin and a few shallow acne scars might have three PDRN sessions three weeks apart, with microneedling at one of them, and assess the result at three months. Someone whose main concern is a hollow under the eyes would be better served by a correctly placed filler, so PDRN alone would be poor value.
Photographs in the same light before the first session and at three months are more reliable than the mirror for a treatment that works gradually.
PDRN treatment cost in Gurgaon
The cost of PDRN depends on the product used, how much is needed for the area, the number of sessions and whether it is combined with microneedling or another procedure. You receive a written quote for the full course after the consultation, before anything is booked.
Why the price per session can mislead
PDRN and PN products differ in concentration, chain length and source, and a cheap session may simply use less product or a diluted one. Compare the product name, the amount per session and the number of sessions in the course, not the headline price for one visit.
Is PDRN safe, and what are the side effects?
PDRN is generally well tolerated. Expected effects are small raised bumps at each injection point that settle within hours to a day or two, redness and mild swelling for one to three days, and occasional bruising. Tenderness is mild. Because the DNA is purified, true allergic reactions are uncommon, but people with a history of fish or seafood hypersensitivity are assessed carefully, since not everyone with a fish allergy reacts but some may.
Less common problems are infection, prolonged lumps from poor technique and flare of acne or cold sores. The 2026 review notes there is no long-term safety evaluation yet, and that dose, delivery and storage are not standardised across products. That is a reason to have PDRN from a doctor who can name the product, follow a sterile technique and manage a reaction, rather than at a salon or a 'salmon DNA facial' bar.
PDRN is postponed in pregnancy and breastfeeding, over active infection, acne flares or cold sores, and in people with autoimmune disease until assessed. Tell the clinic about blood thinners, any fish allergy and recent procedures.
Before and after PDRN treatment
Before
- Tell the clinic about pregnancy, fish allergy, autoimmune disease and blood thinners.
- Avoid strong exfoliating acids and retinoids on the area for a few days, as advised.
- Reschedule if you have a cold sore, a new acne flare or an infection in the area.
- Arrive with a clean face and allow time for numbing cream.
After
- Leave the bumps alone; they settle on their own within a day or two.
- Skip makeup for 12 to 24 hours, then use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser.
- Avoid saunas, steam, hot yoga and heavy exercise for a day or two.
- Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and restart actives only when advised.
PDRN planned by a skin specialist
The value of PDRN depends less on the injection than on the decision before it: whether your concern is skin quality, which PDRN can help, or volume, pigment or laxity, which it cannot. A dermatologist can screen for the conditions that make PDRN a poor idea, combine it with treatments that do the structural work, and treat acne, melasma or hair loss that is driving the problem, which is why every injectable plan at Le Dermaire is made by Dr. Tanya.
Dr. Tanya Kochhar holds an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, an MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy from MGM Medical College, a DNB, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Aesthetic Dermatology (FRGUHS). PDRN treatment FAQs
Is PDRN really made from salmon sperm?
Most PDRN is extracted from salmon reproductive cells, which is where the 'salmon sperm facial' name comes from. The DNA is purified to remove proteins and cut into fragments before it is used. What is injected is a sterile, standardised solution, not raw fish material.
How many PDRN sessions do I need?
Most published protocols use three to four sessions, two to four weeks apart, for the first course. Results build over three to six months, and some people then have maintenance sessions every few months. The exact number depends on the concern and how your skin responds.
How much does PDRN treatment cost in Gurgaon?
At Le Dermaire the cost depends on the product, amount, area and number of sessions, and whether PDRN is combined with another procedure. It is quoted in writing after the consultation, before booking. The consultation fee is Rs 1,800.
Is PDRN better than a hyaluronic acid skin booster?
Neither is better for everyone. A hyaluronic acid booster hydrates and gives glow sooner, while PDRN aims to repair and calm the skin and support collagen over time. Thin, sensitive or slow-healing skin often suits PDRN; dehydrated skin often suits an HA booster first.
Does PDRN help dark circles or under-eye hollows?
PDRN may improve fine, crepey skin under the eyes. It does not fill a hollow, shrink bags or lighten pigment. Hollows usually need a carefully placed filler, and pigment needs creams or peels, so the cause is identified first.
Can I have PDRN if I am allergic to fish?
Possibly not. A history of fish hypersensitivity is listed as a contraindication in the 2026 review, although not every fish-allergic person reacts. Tell the clinic about any fish or seafood allergy; PRP or a hyaluronic acid booster may be safer alternatives.
Is a PDRN serum or sheet mask the same as injections?
No. Topical PDRN products are popular, but large DNA fragments penetrate intact skin poorly, and the clinical studies mainly used injections or delivery through microneedling. A serum may be a pleasant moisturiser, but it should not be expected to match injected PDRN.
