Minor skin procedures in Gurgaon
Small growths and bumps examined, diagnosed and, where appropriate, removed by dermatologist Dr. Tanya Kochhar. Every lesion is looked at properly before anything is removed, because the right diagnosis decides the right method.
What minor skin procedures does a dermatologist do in Gurgaon?
A dermatologist in Gurgaon removes small growths such as milia, skin tags, warts and small benign bumps, and assesses cysts and lipomas. At Le Dermaire, each lesion is examined first, with dermoscopy where useful, then removed under local numbing in a few minutes. Most people return to work the same day, and superficial removals heal in 1 to 2 weeks.
Minor skin procedures, in short
Typical features of small in-clinic procedures. Larger lumps may need a different setting, which is explained at consultation.
Diagnosis before removal
Most small skin growths are harmless, but a few look harmless and are not. A dermatologist examines each one, often with a dermatoscope, before deciding whether it needs removing, how, and whether the tissue should go to a laboratory. That step is what separates a medical procedure from simply getting rid of a bump.
The method is then chosen to leave the smallest possible mark. On Indian skin, even a tiny wound can heal with a dark patch for a few months, so depth is kept as shallow as the lesion allows, and aftercare and sun protection are treated as part of the procedure rather than an afterthought.
Please do not try to cut, burn or squeeze out a growth at home or have it removed at a salon. Beyond infection and scarring, it destroys the evidence a doctor needs to tell a harmless lesion from one that is not.
Procedures explained here

Milia removal
Milia are pinhead white bumps of trapped keratin that sit just under the surface, most often around the eyes and on the cheeks. Because they have no opening, squeezing does not work and usually leaves a mark. Each one is released through a tiny sterile nick and gently expressed, or treated with fine cautery, with little or no visible trace once healed. They can recur, particularly with heavy eye creams or after sun damage, and a lighter skincare routine is advised.
Radiofrequency and electrocautery
These use controlled electrical energy through a fine tip to remove small growths layer by layer while sealing tiny blood vessels. They are used for skin tags, warts, the small dark facial papules common in Indian skin (dermatosis papulosa nigra), seborrhoeic keratoses, some milia and small benign bumps under the eyes. Healing takes one to two weeks under a small scab. On darker skin a temporary dark or occasionally pale mark can follow, so depth is kept shallow and sunscreen is used strictly while the area heals.
Epidermoid cyst assessment and removal
An epidermoid cyst is a smooth, slow-growing lump under the skin, often with a tiny dark pore on top, filled with soft keratin that can smell if it leaks. A cyst that is red and painful is first settled with medication or drainage, because removing an inflamed cyst leaves a larger scar and it tends to return. Lasting removal means taking out the whole cyst wall, which is assessed at consultation and arranged where appropriate, either in-clinic or through referral for larger or awkwardly placed cysts.
Lipoma evaluation and removal
A lipoma is a soft, rubbery, movable lump of fat under the skin, usually painless and harmless. Evaluation checks for features that call for imaging first, such as rapid growth, pain, a firm or fixed feel, or a size over about 5 cm, and an ultrasound may be advised. Small, typical lipomas can be left alone or removed for comfort or appearance; removal is arranged where appropriate, in-clinic or by referral to a surgeon depending on size and depth.

Simple removals can often be done at the first visit once the diagnosis is clear.
Examination
The lesion is examined, usually with dermoscopy, and your medicines are reviewed, especially blood thinners, diabetes treatment and any history of keloids.
Consent
The method, expected mark, healing time and chance of recurrence are explained, and you sign a consent form before anything is done.
Procedure
The area is cleaned and numbed, the lesion is removed, and a dressing is applied where needed. Tissue is sent for testing if the appearance is uncertain.
Aftercare
You go home with written care instructions and know whom to contact if anything looks wrong. Any laboratory result is discussed with you.
Aftercare and warning signs
Caring for the site
- Keep the area clean and dry for the first 24 hours, then wash gently with plain water and mild soap.
- Apply the prescribed ointment and keep any dressing on as advised.
- Let scabs fall off on their own. Picking them raises the risk of a scar or dark mark.
- Use sunscreen on healed areas for at least two to three months to limit darkening.
- Avoid swimming pools, saunas and heavy sweating until the skin has closed.
Contact the clinic if you notice
- Redness or warmth that spreads beyond the edge of the wound after the first day or two.
- Increasing pain or swelling rather than gradual improvement.
- Pus, a yellow-green discharge or an unpleasant smell.
- Fever or feeling generally unwell.
- Bleeding that does not stop with 15 minutes of firm pressure.
Minor skin procedure cost in Gurgaon
The cost depends on the procedure, the number and size of lesions and whether laboratory testing is needed. You are told the cost before the procedure begins.
Why the examination is not optional
Removing a growth without looking at it properly is quicker and cheaper, but a lesion that is burnt away cannot be tested later. The consultation is what makes it possible to remove harmless growths confidently and pick out the rare one that needs more.
Minor procedures by a dermatologist
Small procedures depend on judgement as much as technique: knowing which bump is a harmless cyst and which needs a biopsy, how deep to go on skin that marks easily, and when a lump is better handled by a surgeon. Dr. Tanya examines every lesion herself and refers onwards where a larger procedure is the safer choice.
Dr. Tanya Kochhar holds an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, an MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy from MGM Medical College, a DNB, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Aesthetic Dermatology (FRGUHS). Minor skin procedure FAQs
Do minor skin procedures leave scars?
Most small removals heal with little or no visible mark, but any procedure that breaks the skin can leave a small scar or a temporary dark or pale patch, especially on darker skin. Keeping the depth shallow, careful aftercare and sun protection reduce this. People prone to keloids should mention it, as the approach changes.
Is it painful?
The area is numbed first with a cream or a small injection, so most people feel a brief sting from the anaesthetic and then only pressure. Tiny lesions such as milia may need no anaesthetic at all. Mild soreness afterwards is common for a day or two and settles with simple pain relief.
How much does a minor skin procedure cost in Gurgaon?
At Le Dermaire the cost depends on the procedure and the number and size of lesions, and is confirmed after the consultation. The consultation fee is Rs 1,800. There are no charges that are not quoted to you first.
Can a cyst or lipoma be removed at the first visit?
Sometimes, but not always. An inflamed cyst is usually settled first, and a lipoma with unusual features may need an ultrasound before anything is planned. Larger or deeper lumps may be better removed by a surgeon. The consultation decides the safest route, and you are told if a referral is the better option.
Will the removed tissue be tested?
Tissue is sent to a laboratory whenever the diagnosis is uncertain or the lesion has any worrying features. Clearly harmless growths such as typical skin tags usually do not need testing. If a sample is sent, the result is explained to you along with any next steps.
When can I get back to normal activities?
Most people return to work the same day. Keep the area dry for 24 hours, and avoid swimming, saunas and heavy exercise until the wound has closed, usually within a week or two for small removals. Larger excisions with stitches come with their own timeline, explained at the time.
