Lip fillers in Gurgaon
Lip filler can add definition, a little volume or better balance between the upper and lower lip, and done well it simply looks like your own mouth on a good day. Dermatologist Dr. Tanya Kochhar plans lip filler around your face, starts conservatively and reviews the result once swelling settles.
What are lip fillers in Gurgaon, and how long do they last?
Lip fillers in Gurgaon are small injections of hyaluronic acid gel that add definition, hydration or volume to the lips. Results show at once, settle over about two weeks and usually last around 6 to 12 months. The gel can be dissolved if needed. At Le Dermaire, Dr. Tanya Kochhar starts with a conservative amount and reviews at two weeks.
Lip fillers, in short
Typical figures for hyaluronic acid lip filler. Your own plan depends on your lips, your goal and the product used.
What lip fillers can and cannot do
Lip filler is a soft hyaluronic acid gel injected into the lips in small amounts. Depending on where it is placed, it can sharpen the lip border, lift a flat cupid's bow, add a little fullness to the body of the lip, support down-turned corners, balance an upper and lower lip that are out of proportion, or improve dryness and fine vertical lines.
What it cannot do is change the basic shape of your mouth, fix a gummy smile, or replace lost structure from teeth and jaw changes. A very long upper lip, for example, is usually better treated another way. And because lips move all day, lip filler wears off sooner than filler in the cheeks or chin, so it is a commitment to top-ups rather than a one-time change.
The best lip filler result is one people notice as "you look well", not "you had your lips done". Proportion matters more than size: in most faces the upper lip sits slightly smaller than the lower lip, and keeping that balance is what keeps lips looking natural.
Which lip treatment fits your goal?
People ask for "lip filler" for very different reasons. Naming the actual goal decides how much product is used, where it goes, and whether filler is the right tool at all.
| Your goal | What usually helps | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| A sharper outline | A small amount of filler along the lip border and cupid's bow. | Crisper edges and less lipstick bleed, with little change in overall size. |
| Softer, hydrated lips | A light, soft filler or a skin booster spread through the lip. | Smoother, plumper-looking texture rather than visible volume. |
| More volume | Filler in the body of the lip, built up over one or two sessions. | Noticeable fullness. Starting small avoids a swollen or duck-like look. |
| Uneven lips | Filler placed only on the smaller side or section. | Better balance. Some natural asymmetry is normal and usually left alone. |
| Upper lip lines (smoker's lines) | Very fine filler or skin booster, sometimes with laser or peels. | Softer lines. Deep etched lines improve but rarely vanish. |
| Upper lip shows more when you smile | A small dose of botulinum toxin (lip flip), not filler. | The lip rolls out slightly. Lasts weeks to a few months. |
Many plans combine two of these, for example a light border definition with a small amount of volume. The plan is agreed before anything is injected.
Lip flip vs lip filler: what is the difference?
Both are marketed as ways to get fuller lips, but they work in opposite ways.
| Lip flip | Lip filler | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A small dose of botulinum toxin into the muscle around the mouth. | Hyaluronic acid gel placed in the lip and along its border. |
| How it works | Relaxes the muscle so the upper lip rolls slightly outward. | Adds volume and support directly where it is placed. |
| Best for | An upper lip that thins or disappears when smiling. | Definition, volume, balance and hydration. |
| Visible change | Subtle; no extra volume is added. | From subtle to noticeable, depending on the amount. |
| Lasts | Usually weeks to a few months. | Typically 6 to 12 months. |
| Reversible | No; it wears off. | Yes; it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. |
| Trade-offs | Can briefly affect drinking through a straw, whistling or saying some sounds. | Swelling for a few days; rarely lumps or a blocked blood vessel. |
A lip flip does not replace filler for people who want more volume. It is sometimes combined with a small amount of filler, and only after both have been discussed at consultation.
Who is a good candidate for lip fillers?
Usually suitable
- Adults with naturally thin lips, a flat lip border or lips that have thinned with age.
- Noticeable unevenness between the two sides, or between the upper and lower lip.
- Dry lips with fine vertical lines that do not respond to lip balm.
- Realistic aims, ideally described in words rather than a celebrity photo.
- Good general health, with no active infection on or around the lips.
Postpone or reconsider
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- An active cold sore, mouth ulcer, pimple or rash near the lips.
- Dental treatment planned within about two weeks, before or after.
- Permanent or unknown filler injected into the lips before.
- A wedding, shoot or major event less than two weeks away.
How lip filler treatment works
Four stages. You can take the plan away and think about it; nothing is injected on the day unless you are ready.
Consultation
Dr. Tanya looks at your lips at rest, smiling and talking, in proportion to your nose, chin and teeth. Medical history, medicines, allergies, cold sores and any previous filler are reviewed.
Plan & consent
You hear what is suggested and why, how much change to expect, the risks and how long it lasts, with a written quote before signing consent.
Treatment
The lips are cleaned and numbed. Filler is placed in small amounts with a fine needle or cannula, checking the shape as it goes, and stopping on the conservative side.
Review
At about two weeks, once swelling has gone, the result is checked. Any small adjustment is made then rather than adding more on the first day.
Lip filler swelling: what to expect day by day
Day of treatment. The lips look fuller than the final result straight away, and may feel firm, tender or slightly numb from the anaesthetic. Small needle marks and the odd bruise are common.
Days one to three. Swelling is usually at its most visible, often more on waking, and can look uneven from one side to the other. This is normal and not a sign of how the lips will settle. Cold compresses in short spells help.
Days four to seven. Most swelling settles and bruises fade. Small firm areas may still be felt, and usually soften as the gel integrates.
Around two weeks. This is the real result, and the point at which shape and balance are judged at review. Over the following months the filler gradually softens, and many people choose a smaller top-up rather than waiting until it has fully gone.
Contact the clinic urgently, or go to an emergency department, if you notice severe or increasing pain, skin turning pale, white, blotchy or dusky, or any change in vision after filler. These can be signs of a blocked blood vessel and need treatment within hours.
How long do lip fillers last?
The American Academy of Dermatology's guide to fillers gives hyaluronic acid fillers a duration of roughly 4 to 12 months overall. Lips sit towards the shorter end of that range for most people, typically around 6 to 12 months, because they move constantly when you eat, speak and smile.
How long yours lasts depends on the product, the amount, where it was placed and your own metabolism. Very active people and people who have only had a small first treatment often notice it fading sooner. With repeated treatment, some people find they need smaller top-ups to keep the same look.
Lip filler cost in Gurgaon
The cost of lip filler depends on the filler product, how much is needed for your goal and whether a top-up is advised at review. Definition alone usually needs less product than adding volume. You receive a written quote after the consultation, before any injection.
Why package prices online can mislead
Directory listings for Gurgaon often quote a single "lip augmentation" price that mixes filler with surgical lip lifts, implants or fat transfer, which are different procedures. For filler, what matters is the registered product, the amount, who injects it, and whether a review and dissolving are available if something is not right.
Lip filler side effects and safety
The American Academy of Dermatology lists redness, swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising as the usual temporary effects of filler, clearing within 7 to 14 days if not sooner. In the lips, swelling is typically more noticeable than elsewhere on the face because the tissue is soft and well supplied with blood.
Less common problems include small lumps or ridges, uneven results, filler moving above the lip border (sometimes called a filler moustache) and an overfilled look. These are mostly linked to too much product, too superficial placement or repeated top-ups before the earlier filler has gone, and hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved with hyaluronidase to correct them.
The most serious risk, which is rare, is filler entering or pressing on a blood vessel. The lips have arteries running close to the surface, and the US Food and Drug Administration's guidance on dermal fillers (2023) warns that this can block blood supply and cause skin damage and, very rarely, vision loss or stroke. The same guidance warns against needle-free "hyaluron pen" devices for filler and against buying filler products online, as they may be counterfeit.
Lip filler should only be injected by a medically trained doctor who knows the anatomy of the lips, recognises warning signs at once and has hyaluronidase available. Never have filler at a salon, home party or with a product you cannot see sealed before use.
Lip filler and cold sores
If you get cold sores, tell the doctor before booking. The virus that causes them lies dormant in the nerves around the mouth, and the minor trauma of lip injections can trigger an outbreak, typically within a day or two.
This does not mean you cannot have lip filler. It means treatment is timed for when your lips are completely clear, and your doctor may prescribe an antiviral medicine to take around the treatment day if you have frequent outbreaks. Filler is never injected through an active cold sore, as it can spread the infection and affect healing.
Common lip filler mistakes, and when not to have it
Bringing a photo of someone else's lips. Lips that look right on one face can look out of place on another. A better starting point is describing what bothers you about your own lips: too thin, uneven, undefined or dry.
Adding more before the last filler has gone. Top-ups every few months on top of filler that has not fully broken down are a common cause of lips that slowly lose their shape and creep above the border. Spacing treatments and using less each time avoids this.
Choosing on price or speed. A cheap syringe can mean an unregistered product or an injector who cannot manage a complication. Ask who will inject you, what product is used, whether hyaluronidase is on site and what happens if you are unhappy at review.
Booking too close to an event. Allow at least two weeks before a wedding, shoot or trip, so that swelling has settled and any adjustment can be made. Do not have lip filler during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active cold sore or infection, or if you are unsure what was injected before.
Before and after lip filler
Before
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand to reduce bruising.
- Where your doctor agrees, pause supplements such as fish oil or vitamin E for a few days.
- Do not stop any prescribed blood thinner without medical advice.
- Mention any history of cold sores so treatment can be timed and planned.
After
- Use cold compresses gently in short spells for the first day.
- Avoid pressing, kissing hard or massaging the lips for 24 hours unless advised.
- Skip heavy exercise, saunas, steam and very hot drinks for 24 hours.
- Leave lipstick and lip products until the next day, then apply gently.
Lip filler planned by a dermatologist
Lip filler is a medical procedure in an area with a rich blood supply and a high risk of looking overdone. A dermatologist can judge proportion against the rest of your face, tell when dryness, pigmentation or lip lines are better treated another way, prescribe cold sore cover when needed, and recognise and manage complications, including dissolving filler urgently. Lip filler is offered at Le Dermaire as part of its injectable treatments.

Lip filler FAQs
How long do lip fillers last?
Hyaluronic acid lip filler typically lasts around 6 to 12 months. Lips move constantly, so filler there fades faster than in the cheeks or chin. How long yours lasts depends on the product, the amount used and your metabolism, and it fades gradually rather than suddenly.
Do lip fillers hurt?
Most people find them tolerable. A numbing cream is applied first, and most lip fillers contain a local anaesthetic that takes effect during treatment. The lips are more sensitive than other areas, so expect some stinging and pressure, and tenderness for a day or two.
How long does lip filler swelling last?
Swelling is usually most visible for the first two to three days and largely settles within a week. It can be uneven and worse in the mornings at first. The final shape is judged at about two weeks, which is why reviews and events are planned around that point.
Will lip fillers look natural?
They can, when the amount is conservative and the shape respects your face. Overfilled lips usually come from too much product at once or repeated top-ups before earlier filler has gone. Starting small and adding at review, if needed, is the most reliable way to keep a natural result.
Can lip fillers be removed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, injected by a doctor, and it usually breaks down within a day or two. This is used for lumps, migration, an unwanted result, and urgently if filler affects a blood vessel.
Is a lip flip better than lip filler?
They do different jobs. A lip flip uses a small dose of botulinum toxin so the upper lip rolls out slightly, which suits a lip that disappears when you smile, and it lasts weeks to a few months. Filler adds definition and volume and lasts longer. Some people benefit from one, some from both.
Can I get lip filler if I get cold sores?
Usually yes, with planning. Lip injections can trigger an outbreak, so treatment is booked when the lips are fully clear, and your doctor may prescribe an antiviral to take around the treatment day. Filler is never injected over an active cold sore.
How much do lip fillers cost in Gurgaon?
At Le Dermaire the cost depends on the filler product and how much your goal needs, and whether a top-up is advised at review. It is quoted in writing after the consultation, before any injection. The consultation fee is Rs 1,800, and nothing is charged that has not been quoted first.
