Mesotherapy in Gurgaon
Mesotherapy places tiny amounts of active ingredients directly into the skin or scalp. Dermatologist Dr. Tanya Kochhar uses it as a supporting treatment for thinning hair and for dull, dehydrated skin, only after the underlying cause has been diagnosed, and only with sealed, registered products.
What is mesotherapy and does it work?
Mesotherapy delivers small amounts of active ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids or peptides, into the skin or scalp through many superficial micro-injections. At Le Dermaire it is used as a supporting treatment for hair thinning and dull, dehydrated skin, usually over 4 to 6 sessions. Evidence is modest, so it works best alongside medical treatment.
Mesotherapy, in short
Typical figures for a course. Your plan depends on whether it is for hair or skin, the product chosen and how you respond.
What mesotherapy is
Mesotherapy is a technique rather than a single product. Small amounts of a solution are placed into the superficial layers of the skin or scalp through many fine, shallow injections, by hand or with an injector, or through a microneedling device. The aim is to deliver active ingredients exactly where they are needed, in the layer where follicles and skin cells live.
The solutions vary. For the face, they are usually based on non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants or peptides, intended to improve hydration and radiance. For the scalp, they may contain vitamins, amino acids, peptides or other ingredients intended to support follicles that are thinning. Because the evidence differs between products, which one is used, if any, is a medical decision made after diagnosis.
Only sealed, registered and traceable products should be injected into the skin. Unregulated mixtures prepared outside proper standards have caused serious infections and lumps that can take months to treat.
Hair mesotherapy and face mesotherapy
The same technique, used for different goals. In both, mesotherapy is one part of a wider plan.
Pattern hair thinning
In early to moderate male or female pattern hair loss, scalp mesotherapy may be added to prescribed treatment such as minoxidil. It supports follicles that are still active; it does not replace medicines that act on the cause.
Chronic shedding
In selected cases of long-running shedding, once iron, thyroid and other internal causes have been checked and treated, mesotherapy may be considered as an additional measure.
Dull, dehydrated skin
Face mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid based solutions can improve hydration, radiance and fine surface texture, particularly in skin that looks tired despite a good routine.
Early fine lines
Fine, crepey lines from dehydration may soften with improved hydration. Deeper expression lines and volume loss need different treatments, such as anti-wrinkle injections or fillers.
Before an occasion
A course finishing a few weeks before an event can help skin look fresher. Planning ahead matters, because results build over sessions rather than appearing overnight.
Not what it is for
Fat-dissolving injections for body contouring are a different treatment and are not covered here. Mesotherapy cannot regrow hair on completely bald areas or lift sagging skin.
How a mesotherapy session works
From diagnosis to review, with the product chosen for your concern.
Consultation and diagnosis
For hair, Dr. Tanya confirms the type of hair loss with trichoscopy and checks for internal causes. For skin, she assesses hydration, texture and pigment, and decides whether mesotherapy is the right tool or something else would serve you better.
Preparation
The skin or scalp is cleansed with an antiseptic. A numbing cream may be applied to the face. You are told which product will be used and why.
Treatment
The solution is placed in tiny amounts across the treatment area through fine injections or a microneedling device, taking roughly 15 to 30 minutes.
Review
Progress is reviewed after the course, with photographs and, for hair, trichoscopy. Maintenance is suggested only if the result is worth keeping.
Mesotherapy or PRP for hair loss?
Both are scalp injection treatments used alongside medicines. The difference is what is injected and the strength of the evidence.
| Mesotherapy | PRP or GFC | |
|---|---|---|
| What is injected | A registered solution of vitamins, amino acids, peptides or other actives. | Growth factors concentrated from your own blood. |
| Blood draw | Not needed. | A small blood sample is taken at each session. |
| Evidence for hair | Modest and varies with the product. | Moderate and growing, especially as an add-on to medicines. |
| Typical course | 4 to 6 sessions, usually 2 to 4 weeks apart. | 3 to 4 sessions, about a month apart. |
| Allergy risk | Possible, depending on the ingredients. | Very unlikely, as it comes from your own blood. |
| Best suited to | Early thinning; patients who prefer not to have blood drawn. | Early to moderate pattern hair loss with active follicles. |
Neither replaces prescribed medical treatment, and neither regrows hair on completely bald areas. Which, if either, suits you is decided after trichoscopy.
Mesotherapy cost in Gurgaon
The cost depends on whether it is for the scalp or face, the product used and the number of sessions. You receive a written quote after the consultation, before any session is booked.
What a low price can hide
The product is most of what you pay for in mesotherapy. Very cheap sessions may use unregistered mixtures, diluted solutions or products of uncertain origin, which carry real risks of infection and lumps. Equally, mesotherapy on the wrong diagnosis is money spent for no benefit, which is why diagnosis comes first.
Is mesotherapy safe?
In trained hands with registered products, mesotherapy is generally well tolerated. Common after-effects are pinpoint bleeding, mild redness, small bumps at the injection points and slight tenderness, which usually settle within a day or two. Small bruises can occur, particularly around the eyes and on the scalp, and may take a week to fade.
Less common problems include allergic reactions to an ingredient, persistent small lumps, temporary darkening of the skin in people prone to pigmentation, and infection. Serious infections, including slow-growing mycobacterial infections, have been reported mainly where unregulated products or poor sterile technique were used. Sealed single-use products and careful skin preparation keep this risk low.
Mesotherapy is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active acne, infection, cold sores or eczema in the treatment area, or with a known allergy to any ingredient. Tell the clinic about blood thinners and any tendency to keloid scars.
What to expect from mesotherapy
On the face, the first change most people notice is skin that feels more hydrated and looks a little brighter, usually after two or three sessions. The effect is subtle rather than dramatic, and it fades gradually over the following months, which is why maintenance sessions are sometimes suggested. Mesotherapy does not lift, add volume or remove pigmentation; those concerns need other treatments, which are discussed at consultation.
On the scalp, any benefit shows first as less shedding, with density building slowly over several months. Because mesotherapy is used alongside prescribed treatment, it is judged together with that treatment, using photographs and trichoscopy taken at the start. If there is no worthwhile change after a fair course, Dr. Tanya will say so and suggest a different approach rather than continue sessions.
Before and after your session
Before
- Come with a clean face, or with hair washed on the day for scalp treatment.
- Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids on the face for a few days beforehand, if advised.
- Mention any planned events, as small bruises can take a week to fade.
- Bring a list of medicines and supplements, including blood thinners and fish oil.
After
- Avoid makeup for 12 to 24 hours to let the injection points close.
- Do not wash the hair, exercise heavily, swim or use a sauna for about 24 hours.
- Use a gentle cleanser and sunscreen, and avoid strong actives for a couple of days.
- Continue your prescribed hair or skin treatment as advised.
- Contact the clinic if you notice increasing redness, pain, swelling or lumps after the first few days.
Mesotherapy planned by a dermatologist
Mesotherapy is easy to offer and easy to oversell. A dermatologist can decide whether it is likely to help your particular hair or skin concern, combine it with the medical treatment that addresses the cause, choose a registered product suited to your skin, and recognise and manage the rare complications. Where another treatment would serve you better, such as PRP, skin boosters or prescription medicines, you will be told.
Dr. Tanya Kochhar holds an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, an MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy from MGM Medical College, a DNB, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Aesthetic Dermatology (FRGUHS). She is registered with the National Medical Commission and the Delhi Medical Council.
Mesotherapy FAQs
Does mesotherapy work for hair loss?
It can help some people with early pattern thinning when used alongside prescribed treatment, but the evidence is modest and varies between products. It is not a stand-alone cure and cannot regrow hair on completely bald areas. Diagnosis with trichoscopy decides whether it is worth adding to your plan.
How many mesotherapy sessions are needed?
A typical course is four to six sessions, usually two to four weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions if the result is worth keeping. The exact number depends on whether it is for the scalp or face, the product chosen and how you respond, which is reviewed after the course.
How much does mesotherapy cost in Gurgaon?
At Le Dermaire the cost depends on the area treated, the product used and the number of sessions, and is quoted in writing after the consultation, before any session is booked. The consultation fee is ₹1,800, and there are no charges that are not quoted to you first.
What is injected in mesotherapy?
It depends on the purpose. Face mesotherapy usually uses non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants or peptides. Scalp solutions may contain vitamins, amino acids, peptides or other actives. Only sealed, registered products should be used, and you are told what is being injected before treatment.
Is mesotherapy better than PRP for hair?
PRP and GFC currently have stronger evidence for pattern hair loss and carry very little allergy risk because they come from your own blood. Mesotherapy needs no blood draw and may suit some patients. Both work best alongside medical treatment, and which suits you is decided at consultation.
Does mesotherapy hurt?
Most people feel a series of quick pricks. A numbing cream is often used on the face, and the scalp is usually tolerable without one, though tender areas may sting. Any soreness generally settles within a day.
What is the difference between face mesotherapy and skin boosters?
Both place small amounts of hydrating material into the skin. Skin boosters are usually a specific hyaluronic acid product, sometimes with a more lasting hydration effect, while mesotherapy solutions often combine hyaluronic acid with vitamins, amino acids or peptides. The choice depends on your skin and goals.
When will I see results from mesotherapy?
For the face, many people notice better hydration and glow after two or three sessions. For hair, any reduction in shedding or improvement in density builds gradually over several months, and is judged together with your medical treatment rather than on its own.
Who should not have mesotherapy?
It is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, acne, cold sores or eczema in the area, with a known allergy to an ingredient, or with some bleeding disorders. Blood thinners and a tendency to keloids should be mentioned at consultation.
