Wart and skin tag removal in Gurgaon
Quick, precise removal of warts, skin tags and milia by dermatologist Dr. Tanya Kochhar. Every growth is examined before it is removed, so nothing that needs a closer look is treated as a simple tag.
How are warts and skin tags removed in Gurgaon?
Warts and skin tags are removed with radiofrequency or electrocautery under local anaesthetic, after each growth is examined with dermoscopy. At Le Dermaire, Dr. Tanya Kochhar can usually remove several skin tags in one sitting, while warts, caused by a virus, may need repeat treatment. Procedures take 15 to 45 minutes and small crusts heal in 1 to 2 weeks.
Wart and skin tag removal, in short
Typical figures. Your plan depends on the type, number and location of the growths.
Warts, skin tags and milia: what they are
Warts are rough growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) infecting the top layer of skin. They are contagious, can spread with scratching, shaving or picking, and sometimes clear on their own over months to years.
Skin tags are soft, harmless flaps of skin that hang from a narrow stalk, usually on the neck, underarms, eyelids and groin. They are not contagious and are more common with friction, weight gain, diabetes and pregnancy. Milia are tiny, hard white cysts of trapped keratin, often around the eyes and cheeks.
A growth that bleeds, changes colour or shape, grows quickly or looks different from your other spots should be examined before anything is removed. Some skin cancers can resemble a wart or tag.
Growths commonly removed
Each type behaves differently, which shapes how it is treated.
Common warts
Firm, rough bumps on the fingers, hands, knees and around the nails. Warts around the nails need care to avoid damaging the nail.
Plantar warts
Warts on the soles of the feet, pressed inwards by walking and often painful. They are frequently mistaken for corns, so they are checked first.
Flat warts
Small, smooth, slightly raised warts, often many of them, on the face, beard area and legs. Shaving can spread them.
Genital warts
Warts in the genital and anal area, treated confidentially and with sensitivity. Screening for other sexually transmitted infections may be advised.
Skin tags
Soft tags on the neck, underarms, eyelids and groin. Removal is quick and usually needs only one sitting.
Milia
Tiny white bumps, often around the eyes, that cannot be squeezed out at home. They are gently extracted or removed with fine radiofrequency.
How removal works
A short procedure, done after a proper look at every lesion.
Examination
Dr. Tanya examines each growth, using dermoscopy to confirm what it is and to spot anything unusual that needs a biopsy rather than simple removal.
Numbing
The area is cleaned and a local anaesthetic cream or small injection is used, so the removal itself is not painful.
Removal
Radiofrequency or electrocautery removes the growth precisely, sealing small blood vessels as it works, with care taken to limit damage to the surrounding skin.
Healing and review
You go home with aftercare instructions. Warts are reviewed after a few weeks, and any remaining or recurring wart is treated again.
Wart removal methods explained
Radiofrequency and electrocautery use controlled electrical energy to remove the growth layer by layer. It is precise, suits warts, skin tags and milia in most locations, and allows the depth to be controlled, which helps limit scarring.
Cryotherapy, freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen, is another widely used medical option, often over several sessions. It can leave pale or dark marks on darker skin, which is taken into account when choosing a method.
For some warts, especially many small flat warts or warts in children, prescription creams and solutions may be recommended first or alongside procedures. For warts that keep returning, treatments that encourage the immune system to clear the virus may be discussed.
Wart removal cost in Gurgaon
The cost depends on the type, number, size and location of the growths, and whether repeat sessions are needed for warts. You receive a written quote after the examination, before anything is removed.
Why removal should not be done at home
Tying off, cutting or burning growths at home, or in a salon, risks infection, bleeding and scarring, and spreads warts. More importantly, it removes the growth without anyone checking what it was. Having a dermatologist examine it first is a small cost against missing something that mattered.
Scarring, recurrence and safety
Radiofrequency removal is a well-established, low-risk procedure. Scarring is usually minimal, often a small flat mark that fades over weeks to months, but no removal leaves the skin completely untouched. Deeper warts, larger lesions and people prone to keloids carry more risk of a visible mark.
On Indian skin, the healed area can darken for a while after treatment, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Daily sunscreen on the healed skin helps it settle.
Warts can come back, because the virus can remain in nearby skin that looks normal. Recurrence does not mean the treatment failed; it means the virus needs another round, and new warts are easier to treat when small.
Tell the clinic about blood thinners, a pacemaker or other implanted device, diabetes, pregnancy, and any history of keloid scars before the procedure.
Before and after removal
Before
- Do not pick, cut or apply home remedies to the growth.
- Avoid shaving over facial or beard-area warts for a few days beforehand.
- Bring a list of your current medicines, especially blood thinners.
- Mention any growth that has recently changed, bled or itched.
After
- Keep the area clean and dry for the first day, then wash gently.
- Apply the prescribed ointment until healed, usually 1 to 2 weeks.
- Let crusts fall off on their own. Do not pick them.
- Use sunscreen on healed areas to reduce darkening.
Minor procedures done by a dermatologist
The most important part of removing a growth is knowing what it is. A dermatologist can distinguish a wart from a corn, a skin tag from a mole or an early skin cancer using dermoscopy, choose the method least likely to scar your skin type, send tissue for biopsy when needed, and treat genital warts and related infections as part of proper medical care.
Dr. Tanya Kochhar holds an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, an MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy from MGM Medical College, a DNB, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Aesthetic Dermatology (FRGUHS). She is registered with the National Medical Commission and the Delhi Medical Council.
Wart and skin tag removal FAQs
Does wart or skin tag removal hurt?
Very little. The area is numbed with a local anaesthetic cream or a small injection first, so most people feel only the brief sting of the injection. Afterwards the treated spot may feel mildly sore for a day or two. Small lesions such as tiny skin tags and milia are especially quick and comfortable.
Will warts come back after removal?
They can. Warts are caused by a virus that may remain in the surrounding skin, so new warts sometimes appear after treatment. Treating them early, while small, is easier. Avoiding picking, shaving over warts and sharing towels reduces spread. Skin tags do not usually regrow once removed, though new ones can form elsewhere.
How much does wart removal cost in Gurgaon?
At Le Dermaire the cost depends on the number, size, type and location of the warts or skin tags, and whether repeat sessions are needed. It is quoted in writing after the examination. The consultation fee is Rs 1,800. There are no charges that are not quoted to you first.
Will removal leave a scar?
Scarring is usually minimal, often a small flat mark that fades with time, but no removal is completely scar-free. Deeper or larger lesions and keloid-prone skin carry more risk. On Indian skin the treated area can darken temporarily, and sunscreen helps it fade. Your risk is discussed before the procedure.
Are skin tags dangerous?
Skin tags themselves are harmless and are removed mainly for comfort or appearance, for example when they catch on jewellery or clothing. However, some growths that look like tags are moles or other lesions. That is why each one is examined with dermoscopy before removal, and anything unusual is sent for biopsy.
Can genital warts be treated confidentially?
Yes. Genital warts are treated with privacy and sensitivity at Le Dermaire, as part of dermatology and venereology care. Treatment may include procedures or prescription applications, and screening for other sexually transmitted infections may be advised. Partners may also need to be examined, which can be discussed privately at consultation.
What is the downtime after wart or skin tag removal?
Most people return to work the same day. Small scabs form over the treated spots and fall off within one to two weeks. Keep the area clean, apply the prescribed ointment and avoid picking. Plantar warts on the sole may feel tender when walking for a few days.
