Ozempic face treatment in Gurgaon

Ozempic face treatment restores the balance that fast weight loss on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or generic semaglutide can take from the face: hollow cheeks and temples, deeper folds and looser skin. Dermatologist Dr. Tanya Kochhar first works out whether your change is lost volume, loose skin or tired skin quality, then treats that, without asking you to stop a medicine your doctor prescribed.

Quick answer

How is Ozempic face treated?

Ozempic face is treated by replacing lost volume with hyaluronic acid filler in the cheeks, temples and chin, improving skin quality with boosters, and tightening mild laxity with radiofrequency microneedling. Treatment works best once your weight has stabilised. Marked sagging may need a surgical opinion. The drug itself does not damage the skin; rapid fat loss does.

Understanding it

What Ozempic face is, and why it happens

'Ozempic face' is a popular name, not a medical diagnosis. It describes the gaunt, older or tired look some people notice after losing weight quickly on GLP-1 medicines: semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy and the generic brands launched in India in March 2026) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro). The same change happens after fast weight loss from any cause, including bariatric surgery; the medicines simply made fast weight loss far more common.

The face holds fat in separate compartments that give the cheeks, temples, under-eyes and chin their shape. When weight drops quickly, these pads shrink, the skin over them has less support, and gravity and age do the rest. In a 2023 paper in Facial Plastic Surgery, Humphrey and Lawrence noted that GLP-1 weight loss can change the size of the lips, cheeks and chin and disrupt the balance between facial features, and that prescribers rarely warn patients about it.

Skin over 40 has less collagen and elastin and does not shrink back as well, so the change is usually more visible in older patients and after larger losses. Low protein intake while eating very little can make skin and hair worse at the same time.

Do not stop or reduce Ozempic, Mounjaro or any GLP-1 medicine because of facial changes without speaking to the doctor who prescribed it. The health benefits of weight loss usually outweigh the cosmetic change, and the face can be treated.

How common

How common is Ozempic face?

There is no Indian data yet. The clearest numbers come from a June 2023 survey by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery: 60 percent of facial plastic surgeons reported an increase in patients presenting with 'Ozempic face', and members estimated that 25 to 50 percent of these patients chose injectables, while fewer than 25 percent chose surgery. Forty-five percent said it was too soon to know the long-term outcomes.

In India, use of these medicines has grown quickly. Mounjaro launched in March 2025 and generic semaglutide arrived in March 2026 after the patent expired, at far lower prices. More people losing weight quickly means more people noticing facial change, and more need for honest advice about what helps.

Matching treatment to the problem

Ozempic face treatment options: which one do I need?

Most people have a mix of three problems. Naming which one dominates in your face decides the plan.

What you seeWhat is going onWhat usually helps
Flat cheeks, sunken temples, a weaker chinLost volume in the deep fat padsHyaluronic acid filler placed to restore structure, in small amounts over more than one visit
Deeper smile lines and marionette linesMostly lost cheek support above themRestoring cheek volume first; filling the fold itself only if needed
Hollow, shadowed under-eyesLoss of under-eye fat with thin skinCareful under-eye filler if skin quality is good; boosters if the skin is crepey
Crepey, dull, dehydrated skinPoor skin quality, often with low intakeSkin boosters, a retinoid, sunscreen and better protein intake
Mild looseness at the jawline and neckEarly laxityRadiofrequency microneedling (MNRF) over a course
Heavy jowls and folds of loose skinSignificant laxity after large lossA surgical opinion; injections cannot lift heavy skin

Biostimulators such as poly-L-lactic acid are used abroad for gradual volume, but they are not dissolvable, so for faces still changing with weight, reversible hyaluronic acid is often the safer starting point. Fillers, skin boosters and MNRF each have their own page, linked below.

Timing

When to start treatment: a checklist

Treating too early is the most common and most expensive mistake. Run through these before booking anything beyond a consultation.

Is your weight stable?

Filler placed while you are still losing weight may look less full in a few months. Most plans wait until you are on a maintenance dose or your weight has settled.

Could you regain weight?

If the medicine is stopped and weight returns, filler placed for a thinner face can look heavy. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved, which is one reason it is preferred.

Are you eating enough protein?

Skin and hair suffer when intake is very low. Your prescriber or a dietitian can help; treatment works better on skin that is not depleted.

Is hair shedding too?

Heavy shedding two to four months after fast weight loss is common and usually temporary. It is assessed and treated alongside the face.

At Le Dermaire

How Ozempic face treatment works

One plan for the whole face, built in stages rather than in a single heavy session.

1

Consultation

Dr. Tanya asks about your medicine, dose, how much weight you have lost and how quickly, examines your face at rest and in different light, and separates volume loss, laxity and skin quality. You get a staged plan and a written quote.

2

Skin first

A retinoid, sunscreen and moisturiser routine, and boosters where skin is thin or crepey. Hair shedding is assessed at the same visit.

3

Structure

Hyaluronic acid filler restores support in the cheeks, temples or chin, usually in conservative amounts with a review before more is added.

4

Tighten and maintain

MNRF is added for mild laxity. Your face is reviewed as weight settles, and the plan is adjusted if your weight changes again.

Treatments used

Treatments used for facial volume loss after weight loss

Each of these is explained in full on its own page.

Hyaluronic acid fillers

The main tool for lost volume in the cheeks, temples and chin. Results are visible once swelling settles, and hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed.

Under-eye filler

For true tear-trough hollows with good skin quality. Not for puffy bags, which filler can make look larger.

Skin boosters

Fine injections of hyaluronic acid that improve hydration and crepey texture without adding visible volume.

MNRF

Radiofrequency microneedling heats the deeper skin to remodel collagen and tighten mild laxity gradually, with less surface heat than many lasers.

Results

What results to expect

Filler gives a visible change once swelling settles, usually within about two weeks, and lasts many months depending on the area and product. Boosters improve hydration over a few weeks. MNRF works slowly: collagen remodels for three to six months after each session, so tightening is gradual and modest. Combined, the aim is a face that looks rested and in proportion with your new weight, not the face you had before.

A worked example of a staged plan: someone who lost a large amount of weight over a year and is now on a stable maintenance dose might start with a skincare routine and a booster session, have cheek and temple filler a few weeks later, and add a course of MNRF for early jawline looseness, with a review at three months. Someone still losing weight each month would usually start with skin care only and come back when the weight settles.

Be cautious of plans that use a large volume of filler in one sitting to 'reverse' Ozempic face. Overfilling a thinner face is the commonest reason results look unnatural later.

Pricing

Why staging saves money

Treating a face that is still changing often means paying twice. Waiting for stable weight, fixing skin quality first and adding filler in measured amounts usually needs less product overall than one large session done too early.

Safety

Is treatment safe while on Ozempic or Mounjaro?

Being on a GLP-1 medicine does not by itself rule out fillers, boosters or MNRF. What matters is your general health, other medicines such as blood thinners, and whether your weight is still changing. Tell the clinic about every medicine and supplement, and about any recent illness, since fast weight loss can come with low iron or other deficiencies that slow healing.

Filler carries risks of bruising, swelling, lumps and, rarely, a blocked blood vessel, which is why it should be injected by a doctor who knows facial anatomy and can dissolve hyaluronic acid quickly. In Indian skin, heat-based devices carry a risk of dark marks, which is reduced by conservative settings and strict sun protection. Some people need surgery for heavy loose skin; a dermatologist should tell you when that is the honest answer.

Any procedure under sedation or anaesthesia needs your surgeon and anaesthetist to know you are on a GLP-1 medicine, because these drugs slow stomach emptying. This does not usually apply to fillers or MNRF done with numbing cream.

While you are losing weight

How to reduce Ozempic face while still on the medicine

Helps

  • Losing weight at the pace your prescriber advises rather than as fast as possible.
  • Enough protein every day, with advice from your doctor or a dietitian.
  • Resistance training to hold on to muscle as weight drops.
  • Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen and a night-time retinoid to protect collagen.

Avoid

  • Stopping or changing your dose for cosmetic reasons without your prescriber.
  • Large-volume filler while your weight is still falling month by month.
  • Crash diets alongside the medicine that cut protein and iron.
  • Smoking and unprotected sun, which speed up collagen loss.

Why a dermatologist

Facial change after weight loss, assessed by a dermatologist

Weight-loss facial change is easy to over-treat. A dermatologist can separate volume loss from laxity and skin quality, decide when your face is ready, use reversible filler in measured amounts, treat the hair shedding and skin dryness that often come with it, and tell you plainly when surgery would serve you better, which is why every plan at Le Dermaire is made by Dr. Tanya.

Dr. Tanya Kochhar holds an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, an MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy from MGM Medical College, a DNB, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Aesthetic Dermatology (FRGUHS). She is registered with the National Medical Commission and the Delhi Medical Council.

Common questions

Ozempic face treatment FAQs

Does Ozempic directly damage the skin?

No. Current understanding is that the facial change comes from losing fat quickly, not from a direct effect of semaglutide or tirzepatide on the skin. The same look can follow fast weight loss from diet or bariatric surgery. Speed and amount of loss, age and skin quality decide how visible it is.

Is Ozempic face permanent?

The lost fat does not come back unless weight is regained, so the change persists without treatment. Skin may tighten a little over time, especially in younger people. Filler, boosters and MNRF can restore much of the balance, and the effect lasts as long as the treatment and your weight hold.

Can Mounjaro face be treated the same way?

Yes. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) often produces greater weight loss than semaglutide, so the change can be more marked, but the cause and the treatments are the same. The plan is based on what your face shows, not on which medicine you take.

Should I wait until I finish the medicine before treatment?

You do not need to stop the medicine, but it is best to wait until your weight is stable, often on a maintenance dose. Skin care and boosters can start earlier. Filler placed during active weight loss may need topping up later.

How much does Ozempic face treatment cost in Gurgaon?

At Le Dermaire the cost depends on the treatments you need, the amount of filler and the number of sessions, and each stage is quoted in writing after the consultation. The consultation fee is Rs 1,800. Nothing is charged without a quote first.

Will fillers look strange if I regain weight?

They can look heavier if a lot of filler was placed and weight returns. That is why measured amounts are used, and why hyaluronic acid filler is preferred: it can be dissolved with an enzyme if your face changes again.

Can I prevent Ozempic face?

You can reduce it. Losing weight at the pace your prescriber advises, eating enough protein, doing resistance training, and protecting collagen with sunscreen and a retinoid all help. Some facial change is likely after large weight loss, especially after 40.
